Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the extraction?
Every printed line item and total is transcribed verbatim, in document order. Reconciliation checks compare extracted items against the disclosed totals, and any residual gap is flagged as a note — never silently plugged.
What if a PDF result comes out wrong?
Correct any cell on the page before exporting, or run the same PDF again once within 24 hours at no charge — the second run does not count against your allowance. Extractions that fail never count.
Do scanned PDFs cost more?
A scanned PDF has no selectable text, so herodocu reads it from images of its pages, which takes several times the processing of a text PDF. It counts against your page allowance in proportion: a document that took three times the processing of a text PDF of the same length counts as three times its pages. It never counts as fewer pages than it has, nor as more than three times them, and the result tells you what it counted as. On the free plan it is one extraction, like any other.
What happens when a PDF is longer than the pages I have left?
herodocu extracts it as far as your balance goes — the included pages left this month, plus any overage your spend cap still allows — and tells you which pages that covered. To extract the rest, turn on overage billing or raise your spend cap, then choose Continue from page N on the result: only the pages left are read and counted.
Which filings are supported?
US-listed companies via the SEC registry — 10-K and 10-Q, plus the 20-F and 40-F annual reports of foreign companies listed in the US — and any financial statement PDF you upload — annual reports, interim results, and quarterly statements across fiscal conventions.
What happens to my uploaded PDFs?
Your document is processed to extract the tables and is never shared or used to train models. Extraction history on your account records the run's date, source and outcome; the figures from a PDF are never stored on your account, though the workbook can be fetched again for 24 hours. Ticker results, which are public SEC data, are kept so you can view or download them again.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Plans are billed monthly or yearly with no lock-in, and your included allowances stay active until the end of the paid term. See the refund policy for details.
What does the yearly option change?
Only the billing. You pay for ten months and get twelve, and the monthly page allowance still resets on the 1st of every month.
